Frequently asked questions

Booking & Payments

What are the check-in and checkout times?

Check-in is from 3:00 pm on the day of arrival and checkout is by 10:00 am on the day of departure.

Sometimes we can arrange different times depending on bookings immediately before or after your stay. Please contact us if you would like to request an earlier check-in or later checkout.

What is your cancellation policy?

Our current cancellation and booking-change conditions are set out in our Terms & Conditions.

If your plans change, please contact us as soon as possible.

In some circumstances, by agreement, money from a cancelled booking may be converted to a gift certificate instead of being refunded.

Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes. Cabins in the Clouds gift certificates can be issued for any dollar value and do not expire.

Please contact us if you would like to purchase one.

How do I use my gift certificate?

A gift certificate is used as a payment method, not as a promo or voucher code.

When making your booking, continue through to the payment stage where you would normally enter your credit-card details and enter your gift-certificate details there.

Do not enter the certificate in the Promo/Voucher field.

If your certificate is not accepted, please contact us and we can help.

Before You Arrive

What should I bring for my stay?

Bring your clothing, food and drinks, and any personal items you will need during your stay.

Linen and towels, basic guest amenities and some basic cooking supplies are provided.

Facilities and inclusions vary between properties, so please check the individual property page before your stay if something particular is important to you.

As this is a rural location, it is best to bring anything important with you rather than assuming it will be readily available nearby.

Do I need a 4WD to reach Cabins in the Clouds?

No. A 4WD is not required.

There is a short unsealed section of road near the bottom of the mountain, followed by sealed road to the Cabins in the Clouds entrance. The final access to the accommodation is via maintained gravel road.

Normal passenger vehicles can access the property.

Where are you located?

Cabins in the Clouds is located near Vacy, NSW, in the Hunter region north of Maitland.

We are approximately two hours north of Hornsby by road, in a rural mountain setting in the Moonabung Ranges.

The accommodation is some distance from the main Hunter Valley wine region, so we recommend checking our location before booking if proximity to particular attractions or areas is important to you.

Once you have booked, we provide detailed arrival information to help you find your cabin.

A 4WD is not required.

During Your Stay

Will I be sharing my accommodation?

No.

The accommodation you book is for the exclusive use of the guests included in your booking. It is not shared with another booking.

What should I do if I have a problem during my stay?

Please call or text us using the contact details supplied with your booking.

If something is wrong, let us know while you are staying so we have the opportunity to help or resolve the problem wherever possible.

Facilities & Policies

Is Wi-Fi available?

Yes. All Cabins in the Clouds cabins currently have Wi-Fi.

It is suitable for general internet use, but this is a rural mountain location and speeds and reliability can vary. We do not recommend relying on it for uninterrupted streaming or other high-bandwidth use.

What is the mobile phone coverage like?

Telstra generally provides the strongest and most reliable mobile coverage in the area.

Optus and Vodafone coverage can be patchy or unreliable. Coverage can also vary around the mountain and inside the accommodation, so we recommend not relying on continuous mobile service during your stay.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are not permitted at our properties.

Assistance animals are permitted where required by law. We may ask for reasonable supporting information confirming that an animal is an assistance animal and is appropriately trained for hygiene and behaviour.

Please let us know before arrival if you will be accompanied by an assistance animal.

Are children allowed?

Cabins in the Clouds is primarily adults-only accommodation.

Non-mobile babies under 6 months old are permitted. Older babies and children are not accepted.

Do the cabins have fireplaces?

Yes. All current Cabins in the Clouds properties have slow-combustion fireplaces.

During the cooler months the fireplace is normally prepared and firewood is supplied.

During the warmer months, generally 1 October to 31 March, fireplaces are not prepared for arrival. If you intend to use the fireplace during this period, please let us know. You may also bring suitable firewood with you.

Outdoor fires are not permitted.

Does the accommodation have a spa?

Yes. All of our current properties have a private heated spa.

The exact setup varies between properties. Some spas are undercover while others are open to the weather.

Please check the individual property page or accommodation filters if a particular spa feature is important to you.

Extras & Experiences

Do you offer massages?

Yes. In-cabin massage treatments can be arranged for confirmed bookings.

For two guests, treatments are normally performed consecutively by one therapist rather than at the same time.

On some occasions two therapists may be available for simultaneous treatments, but this cannot be guaranteed.

See Tours & Upgrades for current information.
